One of the best restaurants in Padua is Restaurant Bistrot Abc Montecchia, where we recommend to try their pizza Romana (pizza with milk stracciatella and anchovies of Cantabrico). Bistrot “Abc”, where you find the “roots of taste”, as Massimiliano likes to say, has been made out of Restaurant La Montecchia (one Michelin star) by the Alajmo family. Abc is the acronym of the Italian expression “Alla base della cucina”, literally “the ABC of cuisine”. Inaugurated in 2011, in the shortest night of the year, that of the summer solstice, the fifth business activity of the Alajmo’s, conceived by Patron Erminio and Mauro Meneghetti, has established itself in the market for its simple and natural dishes: Pizza (with a thick and long-fermented pizza base with Italian local products on top, personally selected by Massimiliano: Cormons D’Osvaldo bacon, radicchio of Treviso − chicory − or Burrata from Apulia − an Italian cheese), grilled meat and pasta. Menu includes Paduan soup (bean puree with meat and barley reduction), Spaghetti Carbonara, and, as a second course, the chef offers the Big Max with bread, beef or pork hamburger, lettuce, scamorza (Italian cheese), onion, chips with ketchup, pounded raw cow meat from Piedmont. As a dessert plate, pear pie with zabaglione cream or crepes with chocolate. The restaurant is easily accessible by car, taking exit number 6 of Padova bypass.
