The restaurant’s name comes from the bastions erected by Captain Giovanni Moro in the 16th century to defend the city of Padova. Just outside the old town, the restaurant is in front of the ramparts. It was inaugurated in 1994 by Giancarlo Toniolo and his wife Luisa Gazzetto, who still run it together with their daughter Alessia, maitre d’. Special attention is given to Venetian and Paduan cuisine (the restaurant is part of the Paduan Restaurant Owner Assosiation). The menu includes tasty fish dishes. The restaurant stands out for its flambé specialties: plates are cooked with the flambé lamp at the customer’s table by Patron Giancarlo. In cooperation with the Italian Coeliac Association, gluten-free dishes are also available. It also take part in the project called “Out of Home Restaurant”. In the menu, you can find whipped baccalà (salt cod) with fried Porcini mushrooms, Venus rice with pumpkin, zucchini and shrimp, tuna in hazelnut pastry crust and, as a dessert, pomegranate mille-feuille with Moscato wine cream.
