One of the best restaurants in Padua is Restaurant Via Palestro 29, where we recommend to try their grilled octopus on a bed of potato and sage salad. This is a restaurant you can’t easily forget. First of all for its welcoming atmosphere and the gastronomic offer, and secondly for its name, which is the same of the street where it is located. Maybe a snobbish choice but in line with the place and the menu, which is in tune with the neat and pleasant restaurant. It has been obtained from a beautiful detached house built in 1937, still intact and remodeled some years ago. The way in which its rooms are arranged perfectly reveal its past as a house. The restaurant has four rooms (one on ground floor and three on the first floor), each of them having a seating capacity of 10-12 people. They are also furnished and decorated following a theme: Vienna, Africa, Asia and Buddha. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is accurate. In summer you can leave the interior of the restaurant to enjoy the seducing fresh atmosphere of the garden, lit up by candles in the evening.
In all, menu includes a limited choice of about 20 dishes (starters, first courses, second courses and desserts), strictly prepared using seasonal products. Usually, menu changes every week depending on the available products. But some dishes are always available: for example tagliatelle pasta with broccoli and eels or grilled rib of beef on a bed of misticanza salad. Homemade desserts are also delicious: crème brûlée and tiramisù. Massimo Facchinato, importer of white and red Spanish wine signed Frontaura Y Victoria, will guide you through the wine list.
Prices are reasonable, a real surprise considering the charming atmosphere of the restaurant.
